We are so excited that we held our first animal shelter fundraiser in December in Rosarito, Mexico. Yes, we’re getting ready to open our doors to our first animals in the next month or so. Of course, we’re so grateful to be getting all your support to make that happen.
With our plans to shelter animals and support them to be adopted alongside running training and education events, we need your help. We don’t just want to be another shelter. We want to show how all creatures can live in harmony with each other and the Earth. So, we’ll be completely self-sustained and we’ll give cooking and gardening lessons for how to actually do that. Of course, we’ll also provide dog training for all who are interested and who want to have some fun with animals.
How Can you Help Your Animal Shelter Fundraiser?
We know that everyone is busy trying to manage their own lives. That means that it can be hard to spare time even when we want to help. There are various ways you can support an animal shelter fundraiser though.
- Just turn up and share on social media
- Help with logistics
- Bring friends and family
Just turn up and share on social media
Turning up to the event and spending money is obvious. Regardless, most people forget that simply sharing posts is a huge help to any animal shelter fundraiser. Essentially, we rely on all of you to spread the word to family and friends.
Help with logistics
Organising an animal shelter fundraiser takes time and energy. If you have some to spare then we’ll always appreciate an extra pair of hands. This could involve designing a poster, sending out invitations online or talking to the various service providers for food amongst other things.
Bring friends and family
Clearly, we would love it if you came to our next animal shelter fundraiser and brought all your friends and family. As a new shelter, we need all the help we can get to grow our community. This is especially true during these tough covid times. After all, everyone is struggling to make their own ends meet let alone contribute to animals. So, the more the merrier.
Can you Organise your Own Animal Shelter Fundraiser?
Some people enjoy organising fundraisers. Moreover, there are so many fun ideas out there so perhaps this list can give you an initial spark of creativity:
- Pet-friendly yard sale
- Pet photo competition
- Walk and paw-a-thon
- Hold a barkery
- Virtual share a pet lesson event
- Animal art fair
Pet-friendly yard sale
It’s so easy organising some sort of yard sale or bake sale and you just need to make it such that everyone can bring their dogs. Naturally, you need to make sure it’s safe so, encourage people to use their leashes. On top of that, make sure you have open space so that the dogs don’t have to come face to face without an exit route. You then make the proceeds go to your favourite animal shelter fundraiser.
Pet photo competition
Everyone adores sharing photos of their pets and it doesn’t matter that we’re all biased about our own pets. Basically, they’re all gorgeous and a stack of animal photos are bound to brighten up anyone’s day.
You can then create photo collages and send them around to your friends and family. Moreover, your local animal shelter can do the same. There’s something about animal photos that brings people together and makes them feel good.
Walk and paw-a-thon
Dogs need walking and actually, so do people. So, why not combine the two for a fun day out. It’s also a great way to bring your local community together so that people can meet and generally socialise. With 61% of Americans reporting being lonely, a walk could be a great thing to do for your local community.
Hold a barkery

There are many budding chefs and cooks out there who love baking. Why not capitalise on that and get them involved in making cakes and muffins that are good for both animals and humans? Again, it’s another great day out that also help out your local animal shelter fundraiser.
Virtual share a pet lesson event
For those of us who are either still stuck indoors or who find the virtual world easier. why not organise a virtual animal shelter fundraiser? You can talk about any related topic ranging from animal training to caring for your sick dog or other animals. Whatever you think your community would enjoy.
Animal art fair
Many creative people don’t get the chance to share their moments of insight. So, give them an avenue to express themselves and at the same time, you’ll be getting animal lovers together. There’s no better way to have fun and build that feeling of belonging that we all crave.

Support an Animal Shelter Fundraiser
The best way to fundraise is to do something you love. Although, don’t be fooled by how much logistics you need or the effort required to get people to turn up. You’ll need some social media marketing as well as word of mouth along with email invitations at the very least. Get someone to help you or look out for our Facebook page for updates on our next events and think about how you want to get involved. You can now see that there are many ways to support so find the one that works for you.
